Would you like to know your Arts & Humanities Dean's office a little better?
Arts & Humanities has a great team and in an effort to introduce you to each of our advisors, staff members, Associate Dean, and the Dean, I asked them a series of fun questions. I will highlight one person a week so you can see a face with the name and hopefully make you feel connected to our team.
Let us know what you think!
Rebecca St Croix Martinez - Administrative Support Coordinator & Social Media Specialist
What do you do at Arts & Humanities?
I'm an administrative support coordinator for the Dean's office and I help faculty and our office with various responsibilities. A fun part of my job is promoting our school on our social media sites and the AHA! blog.
Where did you go to college and what was your major or field of study?
I received an AA in Accounting from Bakersfield College and I'm currently completing my BA in Art with a Film Studies minor at CSUB.
What are the most rewarding aspects of your job?
I love meeting our students and bragging on our blog about their successes. I also love letting our community know what amazing things our faculty are doing for our school.
Do you have any words of advice for our students?
Follow your passion and do not listen to negative talk that says you cannot get a job with "x" degree. If you work hard and learn all you can - you can do anything! Also, if you do what you love then it's not "work".
Where is your favorite place to eat?
Depends on my mood but Dickey's BBQ is one of my favorites.
If you could visit any country in the world, where would you go?
What is your favorite book or movie?
So hard to answer because I have so many. I'm a big film fan and one of my favorite genres is Film Noir. Double Indemnity is one of my favorite films in that genre. For books, Robert Heinlein is a favorite for science fiction. Love Charles Dickens and Edgar Allen Poe for the classics and Louise Penny (murder/mystery) for contemporary fiction.
What is your favorite season?
What famous person (living or dead) would you like to meet?
The Dalai Lama
What do you do for fun?
I love being lazy by the pool with a good book.
What special talent do you have?
I write and illustrate children's books. My newest book is out on Blub.
What drives you crazy?
People who crunch ice.
