![]() Please meet Dr. Andy Troup, the Chair of English. What is your field of study? Medieval Literature and Linguistics What is your favorite class to teach? (1) Chaucer and (2) History of the English Language What are you excited about this year? Getting reacquainted with the semester system after having worked in a quarter system for 23 years! What was the last book you read? The Sins of the Fathers by Lawrence Block What was your worst subject in school? Chemistry What is your secret talent? I cook a terrific spinach lasagna. If you had to make a documentary what would the subject be? How the English language is developing throughout the world today--especially in countries that do not use English as the official language. What do you do for fun and relaxation? I read fiction and non-fiction, translate Old English texts, listen to music (mostly classical), and watch old movies. Do you have any advice or thoughts for our students? Take classes about things that you wouldn’t usually encounter in your regular, normal life. What did you do over your summer break? I spent time with my family in Texas.
