Please meet Mandy Rees the Chair of Music & Theatre.
What is your field of study?
Theatre performance skills including acting, voice, movement and improvisation
What is your favorite class to teach?
The class I am teaching at the moment -Beginning Acting, Directing, and Improvisation.
What are you excited about this year?
I'm excited about meeting new students as well as celebrating the progress of returning students. My project for the year is directing the musical Pippin, and that will be a great deal of hard work and fun.
What was the last book you read?
Actually I've had some long drives recently, so I've been listening to audio books— murder mysteries by Diane Mott Davidson, Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. The summer is recreational reading (or listening) time for me.
What was your worst subject in school?
Every class I've taken has brought me both challenges and pleasures.
What is your secret talent?
I don't think I have secret talents, but some are surprised to hear I used to teach high school algebra.
If you had to make a documentary what would the subject be?
Too many choices! I'd need to think about that for awhile.
What do you do for fun and relaxation?
I enjoy listening to and reading about The Beatles.
Do you have any advice or thoughts for our students?
Take advantage of all of the opportunities on campus. Go to performances, concerts, lectures, and games. Find activities that interest you and participate in them.
What did you do over your summer break?
I traveled to Chicago to attend and present at the Voice and Speech Trainers Association's conference.
