The School of Arts & Humanities is proud to announce that the Church Divinity School of the Pacific will award an honorary degree on October 11, 2018 to Dr. Tim Vivian, of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department of California State University, Bakersfield.
An expert in the History of Christianity in Late Antiquity, Dr. Vivian earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has taught at CSUB since 1990 (working his way up from Lecturer to Full Professor). He has published 15 books, over 50 articles, and over 100 book reviews. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Cistercian Studies Quarterly and on the Editorial Board of Coptica. Dr. Vivian is also an ordained priest of the Episcopal Church.
The Board of Trustees of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific unanimously recommended Dr. Vivian for the honorary degree in recognition for his work as a scholar and as an advocate for inclusion, equality, peace, and justice.
You may have noticed a few art pieces being displayed around the campus especially in and around the Visual Arts building. These are just a few of the sculptures created for Professor Sarah Vanderlip's ART 3300 Sculpture class. Take a tour and see the pieces up close!
Walk by the north side of the Visual Arts building and check out our student work from Matthew Green's 2D Painting and Drawing class!
