![]() Students enrolled in Dr. Dianne Turner's ART 3100 "Art in the Elementary Classroom" are teacher candidates majoring in Liberal Studies, Special Education, Child, Family and Adolescent Studies, and Art Education. ART 3100 is a Service Learning Course which means the students spend about 10 hours in the classroom teaching art. These students will eventually enter a program to earn a credential. This semester the students are studying artists of the 1980s and will be teaching about them at Ronald Reagan Elementary School (in grades 1, 2, and 4) with the help from CSUB Alumna Mrs. Ellen Ansolabehere, to develop their skills for when they want to become classroom teachers. To help understand what the 80s culture is about students presented a celebration of presentations at the CSUB campus that will also be presented to the Reagan children. The topics they presented were on 80s children's television, 80s inventions, 80s vocabulary, 80s fashion, and much more.
