2015 Spotlight Festival
For the past 29 years, during the winter quarter, the CSUB Theatre Department has hosted the Spotlight Theatre Festival. Theatre students from several local high schools come to our campus to attend workshops led by our Theatre faculty. The students also use the Dore Theatre to act out their own scenes and monologues and receive feedback from our faculty and their peers.
The School of Arts & Humanities would like to thank Theatre professor, Mandy Rees, for her tireless work who has organized and hosted this festival for 25 years.
Women of Kern -Historical Research Center Exhibit
The Walter Stiern Library, Historical Research Center (HRC) opened their new exhibit, FIRST WOMEN OF KERN on February 6th. The exhibit highlights women who changed local history during several eras such as Women's Suffrage, WWII, including those who broke barriers, as in the first woman police officer for Bakersfield. Several CSUB students researched and built the exhibit under the guidance of the HRC Director, Chris Livingston. Those students are Andrea Anderson (CSUB History Alumna and now studying Library Science); Daniel Anderson (Grad student-History); Shannon Banks (History major); Blanca Caevero (History Major); Chad Enright (Computer Science major); Lance Nelson (Grad student-History); and Andrea Sharer (Grad student -History). Congratulations to our students who have done such a wonderful job with their research and passion for local history. The gallery is open to the public, Monday through Friday. If you have any questions, please contact the HRC Director, Chris Livingston, at 654.3253.
