The School of Arts & Humanities, Art, Music and Theatre departments held the Taste of the Arts on Sunday October 14th. This well-attended event featured appetizers, wine, and a raffle followed by a host of arts presentations.
Student artwork was on display in the Visual Arts Building and in the Geodesic Dome. A pottery demonstration and alumni art installation were featured as well as a craft station where kids could create their own clay bugs with Art Education students.
Musical performances included selections by the Jazz Collective, Chamber Singers, and Chamber Music groups. Opera selections from Oklahoma and The Mikado were presented.
Theatre students were featured in scenes from the upcoming production of Dreamers: Aqui y Alla. Theatre monologues rounded out the evening.
For the Alumni Project, the Art department invited alums to send four copies of an original image that current Art students wheat pasted to the wall, creating a de facto group show of our Alums on campus. The wall will remain on view until the end of the month.
The Dome install was a site-specific project organized by lecturer, Drew Dominick, and showcases our Art 2300 students in a constellation of abstract forms.
This free event is underwritten by a grant in memory of Dorothy Florence Zaninovich.
